The delegation led by the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission commences visit of Brazil
Hon’ble Mr. Madhav Prasad Regmi, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission of Nepal, arrived in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil, yesterday, leading a high-level delegation of the Commission. The delegation is comprised of the Hon’ble Member Mr. Madhav Belbase, Hon’ble Member Mr. Bir Bahadur Rai, Hon’ble Member Mr. Dinesh Silwal, Hon’ble Member Ms. Manju Kumari, Secretary Mr. Raj Kumar Shrestha and senior officials of the Commission. The delegation was received at the Airport by Ambassador Nirmal Raj Kafle and the Embassy team.
The visit aims to exchange best practices and national experiences with Brazil on various aspects of human resource development in the public sector. Today, the delegation called on Her Excellency Esther Dweck, the Minister of Management and Innovation at the latter’s office, and shared views on their respective areas of competences. The meeting was followed by an interactive session on recruitment practices of public servants in both the countries. Later in the evening, the delegation attended a welcome reception hosted by the Ambassador in honour of the delegation.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with Ms. Mitzi Gurgel, the Director-General of the Rio Branco Institute, tomorrow and share best practices on selection and development of the Foreign Service workforce. On 29 May, there will be an in-depth session on test techniques at the Center for Research in Evaluation and Selection and Promotion (CEBRAESPE), an institution dedicated to selection examinations. Similarly, the delegation will engage at the Ministry of Health to take stock of Brazil’s experience of hiring professionals in the health sector. The engagements in Brasilia will conclude with a meeting with Mr. Eduardo Saboia, the Secretary (Asia-Pacific) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 31 May, the delegation is scheduled to meet with senior officials of the State Government of Rio de Janeiro. While in Rio de Janeiro, the Hon. Chairperson Mr. Regmi will participate in a ceremony organized to hand over the National Flag of Nepal to be displayed at the Museum of Christ the Redeemer. The delegation is scheduled to depart for Nepal on 2 June.
