Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Nepal in Brasilia, Brazil! We intend to provide information on Nepal, the Embassy's activities as well as visa, passport and other consular matters.
The Embassy of Nepal in Brasilia was inaugurated in 2010. This is the only Nepali diplomatic mission in the whole South American region.
Apart from Brazil, this Embassy is concurrently accredited to other countries in South America, including Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Dominica, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The Embassy works towards the strengthening of bilateral relations with Brazil and other concurrently accredited countries in this region. Our relaions with each of them are already characterized by utmost goodwill and friendship. Over the years, the bilateral relations and areas of cooperation have continued to grow, involving engagements of the governments and the private sectors. With the increase of the number of tourists and business interactions, people-to-people contacts have also further deepened and expanded. Except for the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trade volume and tourism have witnessed a steady growth.
Despite the geographical distance, there exists prospects of economic partnership and cooperation between Nepal and the South American countries. Development of renewable energy, cooperation in tea and coffee, market for Nepali handicrafts, tourism promotion and agricultural development are some of the areas having potentials of mutual cooperation. Endowed with huge hydropower potentials, Nepal could be an attractive destination for investment from this region. The country's natural beauty, cultural heritages and hospitable people attract thousands of visitors from all over the world, including Brazil and other countries in the South American continent. At the multilateral platforms, Nepal and countries in South America hold similar views on multilateralism, climate change, and other global agendas. They have shared vision of achieving a just and equitable world order and protecting the interests of developing countries. The Embassy remains committed to working closely with the Government courterparts and agencies in Brazil as well as other concurrently accredited countries to further enhance the level of engagements in all areas of common interests.
There is a small size of Nepali community living in different parts of the South America, notably in Brazil (about 50 Nepalis) and Chile (about 200 Nepalis). In other concurrently accredited countries, there are few Nepalis living and working in different fields. We provide a full range of consular services for the Nepali nationals, including issuance electronic passports.
