Procedure for application:
Visa to Nepal is now called Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
- Open link https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np that will direct you to “Visa from Nepalese Mission” of the online application portal of the Department of Immigration.
- Select “Embassy of Nepal, Brasilia“.
- Fill in other details as asked in the text box by either typing or selecting an option from the Drop Down menu.
- Fill in details of your passport correctly.
- Select your preferred visa option (15/30/90 Days), purpose of visit and type address in Nepal.
- Based on Visa option selected, the system will display the required visa fee.
- If your country of citizenship and the country of residence are different, you can use your current address in the visa form.
- After confirmation, click on the SUBMIT button. Or click on the BACK button to edit details.
- Download the confirmation slip. Note that submission ID starting with letter “M” is generated.
- Send the following documents to embaixadanepal@gmail.com:
- Photo page of Passport (must be valid for a minimum of 6 months) — pdf or jpg
- Downloaded confirmation slip (with Submission ID generated)
- Receipt of payment of visa fee — jpg, screenshot or pdf:

Payment once made cannot be refunded.
Visa fee exemption: Note that these applicants do not need to pay a visa fee: 1. children below 10 years of age 2. children below 16 years of age, whose one or both parents is a Nepali citizen, 3. visitors with invitation letter issued by the Government of Nepal.
Group application: If you are applying for a visa on behalf of two or more persons, you should mention that in your email with a list of applicants. Visa fees can be paid in total.
Applying from countries other than Brazil: You are welcome to apply for a visa from countries other than Brazil. If are applying from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru or other countries in South America, and have difficulty in bank transfer, you will have to pay the visa fee using money-transfer services. Please inform the Embassy in advance in the above email and you will receive instructions on how to use such services.
Issuance of visa: eTA will be emailed to the applicant within two working days from the date of receipt of the above-mentioned documents. eTA must be used within six months from the date of issue.
COVID information: Effective from 19 June 2023, passengers travelling to Nepal no longer require a proof of vaccination OR Negative PCR test report of COVID-19.
Official/Diplomatic Visa: As per the Agreement between Nepal and Brazil, holders of Official/Service and Diplomatic Passports are exempt from visa requirement for 90 days from the date of entry. Officials and diplomats from other countries in this region should send an email to this Embassy with a Note Verbale, photo page of Passport and an online confirmation slip.
On-Arrival Visa: Nationals of Brazil and other countries in South America can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at the designated entry points in Nepal. For an on-arrival visa, please make sure you have:
- Valid passport having duration of at least 6 months
- A print-out of visa application form from the website: https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/eta-visa-processing
- Visa fee in cash (US$ 30 for 15 days, US$ 50 for 30 days and US$ 125 for 90 days)
(Note: the followings must obtain a visa before entering Nepal: a) Persons holding refugee travel document, and b) Nationals of: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Swaziland, Syria and Zimbabwe)
Non-Tourist Visas: If you wish to apply for other categories of visa, such as study, work, business or residential, you have to first arrive in Nepal with a tourist visa. You can then apply for various types of no-tourist visa. Useful information:
- The ultimate right to grant or deny an entry rests with the Immigration Officer in Nepal.
- Tourist visa can be extended only by the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request.
- With the exception of restricted areas, the visa is valid for travel to all over Nepal. Please obtain permission from the Ministry of Information and Communication to film in restricted areas or use drones.
- Trekking permits are issued by the Department of Immigration only.
- Living in Nepal without visa is a punishable offence. Likewise, change of purpose of stay without permission is not allowed and employment or voluntary work on a tourist visa is prohibited.
- Visitors are requested to inform the Immigration or Police for any changes in your address.
- Please contact the Department of Immigration for transfer of visa in case he/she has a new passport.
